Esto se debe a que, m\u00e1s que nunca, la medicina y la ciencia est\u00e1n descubriendo nuevos datos sobre el funcionamiento y el comportamiento de la mente, y c\u00f3mo afecta a nuestra vida diaria. Por otro lado, vivimos en un contexto de hiperinformaci\u00f3n, velocidad y cambio constante, en el que estamos siempre conectados. Y esto tiene un gran impacto en la salud mental.<\/p>\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph --><!-- wp:paragraph -->\n<p>En este contexto, la pr\u00e1ctica del mindfulness, o atenci\u00f3n plena, ha cobrado relevancia como herramienta para ayudar a nuestra mente cuando necesitamos concentraci\u00f3n y calma. Por definici\u00f3n, mindfulness es estar presente sin juzgar, plenamente consciente de lo que hacemos y decimos. Sin embargo, lo que pocos saben es que, de hecho, el estado de atenci\u00f3n plena es una capacidad humana fundamental: estar en el momento presente<sup>1,2<\/sup>.<\/p>\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph --><!-- wp:paragraph -->\n<p>La pr\u00e1ctica tiene sus or\u00edgenes en las tradiciones de meditaci\u00f3n budista, pero fue introducida en Occidente en la d\u00e9cada de 1970 por el Dr. Jon Kabat-Zinn a trav\u00e9s del programa de Reducci\u00f3n del Estr\u00e9s Basada en la Atenci\u00f3n Plena (REBAP) que cre\u00f3 en la Universidad de Massachusetts.<\/p>\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph --><!-- wp:paragraph -->\n<p>El Dr. Jon comenz\u00f3 a practicar la atenci\u00f3n plena consigo mismo para aliviar el dolor cr\u00f3nico. A\u00f1os m\u00e1s tarde, en 1985, realiz\u00f3 un experimento con 90 personas con dolor cr\u00f3nico. Estos pacientes participaron en un ensayo de REBAP de 8 semanas. La investigaci\u00f3n revel\u00f3 que la pr\u00e1ctica no solo ayud\u00f3 a reducir el dolor cr\u00f3nico, sino que tambi\u00e9n mejor\u00f3 el estado de \u00e1nimo y tuvo un impacto positivo en la calidad de vida<sup>3<\/sup>.<\/p>\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph --><!-- wp:paragraph -->\n<p><strong>La fisiolog\u00eda de la Atenci\u00f3n Plena<\/strong><\/p>\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph --><!-- wp:paragraph -->\n<p>Cuando practicamos la atenci\u00f3n plena, esta tiene un efecto directo en el funcionamiento de las siguientes \u00e1reas del cerebro:<\/p>\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph --><!-- wp:list -->\n<ul><!-- wp:list-item -->\n<li>Corteza prefrontal: participa en la regulaci\u00f3n emocional y el control de la atenci\u00f3n;<\/li>\n<!-- \/wp:list-item --><!-- wp:list-item -->\n<li>\u00cdnsula: responsable de la percepci\u00f3n interoceptiva;<\/li>\n<!-- \/wp:list-item --><!-- wp:list-item -->\n<li>Am\u00edgdala: regi\u00f3n asociada con la respuesta al estr\u00e9s, el miedo y la ansiedad;<\/li>\n<!-- \/wp:list-item --><\/ul>\n<!-- \/wp:list --><!-- wp:paragraph -->\n<p>Adem\u00e1s, con la atenci\u00f3n plena, el cerebro libera m\u00e1s <a href=\"https:\/\/umajuda.com.br\/es\/os-segredos-do-bem-estar\/\">neurotransmisores<\/a> responsables de la sensaci\u00f3n de bienestar, placer y de la calma cerebral. Estos son la dopamina, el GABA, la serotonina y las endorfinas. Por otro lado, se reduce la producci\u00f3n de cortisol, asociada con el estr\u00e9s, por lo que nos sentimos mejor y la calidad de nuestro sue\u00f1o mejora<sup>3<\/sup>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph --><!-- wp:paragraph -->\n<p>La atenci\u00f3n plena tambi\u00e9n ayuda a reducir la rumiaci\u00f3n causada por la activaci\u00f3n del <a href=\"https:\/\/umajuda.com.br\/es\/entendendo-as-reflexoes-inconscientes\/\">Red de Modo Predeterminado<\/a>. Esta regi\u00f3n se activa cuando no estamos concentrados y promueve la divagaci\u00f3n mental, cuando nuestros pensamientos se descontrolan. Esta rumiaci\u00f3n puede provocar trastornos como la ansiedad y la depresi\u00f3n<\/p>\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph --><!-- wp:paragraph -->\n<p><strong>La Atenci\u00f3n Plena como terapia auxiliar<\/strong><\/p>\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph --><!-- wp:paragraph -->\n<p>Tanto la medicina como la psicolog\u00eda utilizan la atenci\u00f3n plena como terapia auxiliar para:<\/p>\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph --><!-- wp:list -->\n<ul><!-- wp:list-item -->\n<li>Trastornos mentales como la ansiedad y la depresi\u00f3n;<\/li>\n<!-- \/wp:list-item --><!-- wp:list-item -->\n<li>Combatir la adicci\u00f3n a sustancias qu\u00edmicas y al alcohol;<\/li>\n<!-- \/wp:list-item --><!-- wp:list-item -->\n<li>Dolor cr\u00f3nico;<\/li>\n<!-- \/wp:list-item --><!-- wp:list-item -->\n<li>Enfermedades inflamatorias;<\/li>\n<!-- \/wp:list-item --><!-- wp:list-item -->\n<li>Sobrepeso y obesidad;<\/li>\n<!-- \/wp:list-item --><!-- wp:list-item -->\n<li>Agotamiento profesional<sup>2<\/sup>.<\/li>\n<!-- \/wp:list-item --><\/ul>\n<!-- \/wp:list --><!-- wp:paragraph -->\n<p>Existen diferentes t\u00e9cnicas que pueden ayudar a activar el estado de atenci\u00f3n plena, desde incluir breves descansos a lo largo del d\u00eda, practicar meditaci\u00f3n e incluso combinar la meditaci\u00f3n con actividades f\u00edsicas, como el yoga<sup>1<\/sup>.<\/p>\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph --><!-- wp:paragraph -->\n<p><strong>Beneficios comprobados<\/strong><\/p>\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph --><!-- wp:paragraph -->\n<p>Los beneficios de practicar mindfulness son numerosos, desde la reducci\u00f3n del estr\u00e9s y la mejora de la memoria de trabajo y la regulaci\u00f3n emocional hasta el aumento de la concentraci\u00f3n, la empat\u00eda y la compasi\u00f3n<sup>4<\/sup>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph --><!-- wp:paragraph -->\n<p>Adem\u00e1s del estudio del Dr. Jon Kabat-Zinn, otros investigadores y cient\u00edficos han realizado diferentes pruebas con mindfulness. La profesora de la Universidad de Harvard, Sara Lazar, detect\u00f3 mediante pruebas de imagen que el mindfulness induce neuroplasticidad y genera un aumento de materia gris en ciertas regiones del cerebro. El an\u00e1lisis se realiz\u00f3 con un grupo de pacientes que meditaron durante ocho semanas. Cabe destacar que estas regiones son responsables de la memoria, el aprendizaje y la regulaci\u00f3n emocional, entre otros factores<sup>3,5<\/sup>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph --><!-- wp:paragraph -->\n<p>En el Hospital Israelita Albert Einstein de S\u00e3o Paulo, cient\u00edficos analizaron a un grupo de 39 personas y descubrieron que quienes meditaron con frecuencia durante tres a\u00f1os ten\u00edan un cerebro m\u00e1s eficiente para las tareas que requieren atenci\u00f3n. Tambi\u00e9n presentaban m\u00e1s materia gris en las \u00e1reas de la corteza cerebral que intervienen en el razonamiento y la atenci\u00f3n<sup>6<\/sup>.<\/p>\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph --><!-- wp:paragraph -->\n<p><strong>Tambi\u00e9n puedes y debes practicar mindfulness<\/strong><\/p>\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph --><!-- wp:paragraph -->\n<p>Nuestra vida diaria es ajetreada y estamos tan concentrados en completar nuestras tareas que a menudo terminamos viviendo en piloto autom\u00e1tico. Y, probablemente, la que m\u00e1s se ve afectada es nuestra salud mental.\u00a0<\/p>\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph --><!-- wp:paragraph -->\n<p>Pero \u00bfqu\u00e9 tal si te detienes unos minutos para respirar conscientemente? Unos minutos pueden marcar la diferencia cuando tu cerebro est\u00e1 sobrecargado y tu concentraci\u00f3n y atenci\u00f3n empiezan a fallar. Al cerrar los ojos, concentrarte en tu respiraci\u00f3n y observar c\u00f3mo te sientes, calmas tu mente. \u00a1Suena bien, \u00bfverdad?!<\/p>\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph --><!-- wp:paragraph -->\n<p>El Mindfulness tiene bases s\u00f3lidas en varios estudios y resultados comprobados. Esta pr\u00e1ctica promueve el equilibrio entre mente, cuerpo y emociones, mejorando as\u00ed la salud mental y la calidad de vida.
